In what seems like a departure from the norm, insurance leader and financial services provider, Royal Exchange is to partner with ‘Idol’ as it rolls out its maiden Nigerian edition in November, 2010, airing in 27 terrestrial stations in Nigeria, including NTA, AIT and Silverbird as was as HITV-4Real, etc.

A statement issued by the Corporate Affairs Department said the Nigerian Idol show which is envisaged to reach 35 million viewers, will provide a solid platform for an effective interaction with Royal Exchange.

The Royal Exchange brand is well known for its empathy and high sense of patriotism. This huge investment in the Nigerian Idol project reflects its belief in the potential of the Nigerian spirit and the ability of the Nigerian youth to soar and excel in their chosen fields when given the opportunity.

The statement also outlined a series of other initiatives lined up to give the company added visibility and emotional connection with the Nigerian people, especially those between 15-45 years. These include a community school project, community sanitation, donation to orphanages and a lecture series, especially as Royal Exchange moves to mark 90 years of existence in Nigeria.

The ‘Idol’, which is a global brand, is a musical reality talent hunt show with a high level of interactivity between a largely youthful audience and the competitors. Besides, that, it is a wholesome family show with a proven track record surpassing all previous records in television audience appeal in United State, Germany, France, Canada, Singapore, etc.

‘Nigerian Idol’ is the brainchild of Optima Media Group (OMG) and Rabid Blue Format Limited, in collaboration with the exclusive worldwide distributor of the ‘Idols’ format, Freemantle Media Enterprises.
